Quiz or calculator on a landing page: which should you choose?

The cleaning firm put a calculator on the site and exhaled. The manager’s table had long held a minimum order and a window surcharge after six. Only area and type of clean made it onto the page. The client arrived with a printout — and the argument started on the doorstep, before the first cloth.

It's not the widget. The question is whether the number on the screen matches the way you think the order is. If it matches, the calculator saves correspondence. If the final amount appears only after inspection, a short survey and enquiry are more honest than a beautiful lie.

The formula you already use in the table

estimate is appropriate when the client knows the introductory, and you already count them: area, volume, route, number of windows, type of service. A person moves parameters, sees a landmark, leaves a request along with these numbers.

As soon as the conversation sounds “well, we need to see”, a hard number on the site becomes a risk. Then range or poll.

When the number cannot be shown without inspection

A short survey of several steps is needed when it is more important for the manager to understand the task than to name the amount: an appointment to the doctor, a legal appeal, B2B with an individual estimate, urgent or planned, wholesale or one-time order. It is easier for a person to answer clear questions than to fill in an empty comment.

Seven screens are thrown in the middle for the sake of engagement. Four questions are usually enough.

Four Situations Without Philosophy

How the price is arranged What to put
It is calculated from 3-6 parameters, the table is already there. Calculator
Amount only after inspection or call Short survey and enquiry
Direct or target is coming, a lot of empty "find the price" More often a survey or a short estimate with an enquiry
We need both a segment and a benchmark. 3-4 questions, at the final - range
A bunch of “a few questions → fork price” is often calmer than a full calculator. You understand the request and do not promise an amount that cannot be used.

What to Ask in Five Minutes

If the client compares the figures by introductory, which he already knows himself, calculate. If first decides whether the service is suitable at all, put a survey. If the advert brings empty "find out the price," start with a survey and add the formula later when the table holds up the public figure without shame on the doorstep.

It's not a designer's taste. It's a matter of honesty in front of a person who will come with a printout and check the screen against what the manager says.

The quiz to the finished site is usually faster than the full estimate with PDF and CRM. Guide to money - in the article About the cost of landing page with a calculator. The tariff itself. site-calculator.

If you look more broadly — not just survey and estimate, but also a simple button and a live manager — next to this is a comparison of four ways to collect an enquiry: button, quiz, calculator or person.

Describe how you now consider the order - at least a screen table. Let’s say calmly: estimate, polling or both steps, without fashion “all quiz”.
